We are the team of European Horizons. We are not a big chapter yet, and do not have many members but we hope to interest more people to join European Horizons in the future!
Maria Meixueiro

I’m a 3rd year student at SILS! I’ve been taking part in EH and its activities since last year. I’m interested in human rights, international relations and cultural studies. I’m binational, from Mexico and Spain and love sharing my own culture and learning from other cultures as well.
James Cahyadi

I’m a 3rd year at SILS. I dabble in a lot of fields; Law, Business, Tech, Public Policy and IR. This is to the point that I can never really answer the question “what do you *really* study?” under 10 seconds. I’m from Southeast Asia, Indonesia but was heavily influenced by other cultures growing up, so my take on things can be pretty unique.

I’m a senior student at SILS at Waseda University. I have been taking part in European Horizons Waseda Chapter since its creation in 2019. I am deeply interested in conflict studies and human security and will be graduating next year! Until then I intend to stay deeply involved in EH’s work!

I am a 4th year student at SILS studying with a focus in International Relations. I originally grew up in Arizona before doing study abroad in Germany for 2 years and attending university in Japan. I became interested in EH because I enjoy learning about new topics from humanitarian intervention, trade agreements to policy coherence.
Hinako Yasui

I’m a fourth year student at SILS. Currently, I am concentrating on role of international organisations on human rights, especially minority rights and refugee protection. During my freshman/sophomore years, I participated in Taiwanese A-mei, Afro-Bolivian, and Vietnamese dances at Waseda. I love learning about different cultures and gaining perspectives, which is one reason why I joined EH Waseda!

I was born in California to a Japanese mother and an American father; currently, I live in Tokyo and attend Waseda University. I am a second year student, and majoring in peace and conflict studies. I became interested in EH after studying humanitarian intervention and multilateral solutions to military action in areas of conflict.

I’m from Luxembourg, a multicultural country in the heart of the European Union. I’m a second year student at SILS and I’m concentrating in International Relations. My main interests are humanitarian crises around the globe and throughout history, conflict studies and human rights. I joined EH because as a EU citizen I think it is important to share and spread EU values around the globe and having the opportunity to do so at Waseda was a reason for me to join.
Miyuki Nabila

I’m a third year student at SILS. I major in IR and I’m particularly interested in human rights, conflict studies, and cultural studies. I was born and raised in Jakarta but I actually have Japanese roots. My grandmother is a Japanese and she was the one who named me Miyuki. I really love sweets. In fact, I can survive a day without eating nothing but sweets. It’s my staple food. I’m also a skincare junkie so I’m always on the lookout for interesting skincare products.
Joanne Chen
I’m a fourth year student at SILS. I was born and raised in a place that is famous for Tapioca, Taiwan!! I found the EU attracting when I took a course related to EU during my freshman year. From then on, I started to take courses mainly focused on EU and International organizations, and even had a chance to exchange to Copenhagen University for a year. After returning from Europe, I am now working on my thesis related to the democratic deficit of the EU.
Aleeya Zailan
I was born and raised in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and came to Tokyo around 3 and a half years ago. Currently, I am a 3rd year at SILS and also a general member in European Horizons. I enjoy a lot of things including dancing, play online games, or lounge around with my cats as I am a huge animal lover. Another fact that I like to share about myself is that I am terrified of heights, but I also enjoy roller coasters.
